On November 7, the first International Seminar on Bamboo Plastic was held in Beijing. The theme of the conference is "Collaborative Innovation to promote the global process of bamboo replacement Plastics", which aims to establish an international exchange and cooperation platform from a global perspective, gather consensus of all parties, lead the high-quality development of the bamboo replacement plastics industry with scientific and technological innovation, and make new and greater contributions to the construction of the modernization of harmonious coexistence between man and nature and the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. At the meeting, the Global Action Plan of "Replacing Plastic with Bamboo" (2023-2030) was officially released.

Wang Zhizhen pointed out that bamboo and rattan are green and renewable strategic resources that play a unique role in spreading the concept of ecological civilization, promoting green growth, tackling climate change, promoting employment and income, and expanding South-South cooperation. Bamboo and rattan resources are widely distributed in the developing countries along the "Belt and Road", and the international cooperation prospect of "replacing plastic with bamboo" is very broad. By jointly building the Belt and Road and deepening South-South cooperation, China is willing to contribute its wisdom and solutions to the sustainable development of countries along the Belt and Road and the building of a beautiful world.

Guan Zhiou said that the initiative of "Replacing Plastic with bamboo" has received a positive response from the international community since its release one year ago, and has made remarkable progress and results. First, accelerate the promotion of scientific and technological innovation, crack the key technical bottlenecks of bamboo plastic; Second, accelerate the cultivation of industrial clusters, and promote the healthy development of bamboo plastic industry; The third is to strengthen international cooperation and form a common force to promote global action to replace bamboo with plastic.
Jiang Zehui proposed in the keynote report that we should base on the global perspective, aim at the national strategic needs, make full use of bamboo resources and material advantages, and continue to increase the integration of scientific and technological innovation and industrial upgrading from five aspects: oriented cultivation, improving production scale and efficiency, developing innovative technologies and products using bamboo to replace plastics, scientific and systematic evaluation of product value, and setting up research projects using bamboo to replace plastics. Lead the transformation of bamboo industry with scientific and technological innovation, drive the high-quality development of bamboo plastic industry with advanced technology, and make more new contributions to the global green and low-carbon economy.
